Guardian / Foster Families

Sometimes, we look at placing a puppy in a guardian/foster home for breeding purposes.   Guardian families, basically get a puppy from us at no cost. As a guardian you would be responsible for and committed to the yearly care of a dog (veterinary expenses, feeding high quality food, love and caring). The breeder will be responsible for the cost of health testing (usually at around 1 year of age and yearly afterwards).  You must make yourself available to the breeder for these testings and also work with us during heat and breeding periods.  Depending on your location, during breeding, we may keep your pup until the breeding period is over. Then about 1 week before birthing, your pup will come to us and stay with us until the weaning period (approximately 7 weeks of age).  At that time you will be able to bring her back home.

During the time where your dog is breeding, the ownership remains ours. Once her time in our breeding program is over (usually 3 litters), at that time, your pup will be spayed/neutered (at our expense) and ownership will be transferred to you.

To be considered for our program, you must have a fenced yard to keep your pup safe, pass a phone interview and then I will come to your home to make sure your environment is what will be in the best interest for our pup.

For male dogs, we may need regular access to them when our females are in heat. There will be regular visits during season.  We are pretty flexible and are able to work well with people for times but the dates must be respected.
